How We Can Help
Chiropractors treat a range of musculoskeletal conditions
Each person we see is different and so are their health problems.
There are many different causes of a persons symptoms and because of this it requires a thorough examination of a person and their presenting symptoms. Which is why at Bicton Sports and Spinal we spend the time looking and talking to our patients in our initial consult to evaluate their symptoms.
Some people we are able to treat with their presenting condition, while others need to be referred on for further evaluation by different health professionals or for further imaging.
Common Conditions We Treat
Neck pain and Back pain
Neck and back pain are some of the most common reasons why patients visit chiropractors. The cause of the neck pain or back pain can be due to a number of reasons, from poor posture to problems in other areas of the body producing referred pain.
Due to the vast array of causes a thorough examination of a persons problem is necessary.
Some of the more specific neck and back problems we deal with include:
- Facet joint dysfunction
- Disc bulge
- Sacroiliac joint dysfunction
- Piriformis Syndrome
Headaches can be caused by a number of different factors. There are many types of headaches. Often headaches can be attributed to some of the structures in your upper body/neck area being put in prolonged or awkward positions. These include things like sitting at a desk while working for long periods, having poor posture or a poor ergonomic setup.
These positions lead to increased muscle tightness and restriction in the joints causing referred headaches. As chiropractors we aim to improve these symptoms through spinal manipulation and soft tissue work.
This is a common symptom associated with low back pain. This is where the patient gets pain running down the back of their leg due to the nerves becoming trapped. Chiropractic care may be able to help alleviate some of these issues.
Hand/ Wrist pain
Wrist and hand pain can be very debilitating for many people affecting work and other activities. Common symptoms that people present to the clinic with include pain, numbness and tingling. These of which can be caused by numerous conditions. Often in dealing with these conditions they require a very thorough examination.
Shoulder pain can be caused by many things. The mechanics behind how the shoulder works are quite intricate. Certain muscles need to fire at specific times when a person moves their shoulder. Often people with poor motor patterns in their shoulder tend to experience pain as these muscles aren’t firing at the appropriate times.
At Bicton Sports and Spinal many of these conditions can be attributed to a range of different factors, which is why we thoroughly examine each patient before treatment.
